Reprogramación de Chelsea Piers

El proyecto de Chelsea Piers en Nueva York consiste de unos puertos industriales antiguos los cuales se restauraron con una nueva programación de deporte y entretenimiento. Algunos de los programas nuevos son canchas de baloncesto, un "range" de golf, patinaje de hielo, gymnasio, espacios recreacionales para niños, restaurantes, entre otros.

Las últimas dos fotos son de un concurso que ganó la firma LOT- EK recientemente para reprogramar el Chelsea Piers nuevamente, añadiendo programas de comercio, estudios y espacios comunales. Enlace para la propuesta nueva:

Cabe reconocer los puntos de vistas y encuadres que el parque promueve con la inclusión de esculturas como puntos focales, y el recorrido zig-zagueante para augurar y aprovechar la cercanía al "waterfront". De la misma forma con el desarollo de "walkways" paralelos y cruces en niveles superiores se relaciona el parque con la infraestructura de tránsito. En momentos con conexiones visuales directas, y en otros con "buffers" visuales como la obra "Seattle's Cloud Cover" por Teresita Férnandez.

The large green open spaces that surround the Seu Vella Cathedral and dominate the whole city are the most beautiful public areas in Lleida, and are what we chose as our reference point. The designs for the new Ricard Viñes Square must possess some of this beauty. The focus of our proposal is to build a large green open space for a sculpture dedicated to the musician Ricard Viñes. A space full of little squares 0 5 10 cross section and green areas at a point where the city throngs with traffic and pedestrians.

Ruralismo urbano o turismo rural

El primer tema de los #microdebates sobre turismo rural que celebramos el 26 de noviembre de 20101 en INTUR Valladolid tenía enjundia. ¿Qué turismo rural tenemos? Debemos reflexionar sobre ello porque comprender las claves de esta tipología condiciona por sí mismo el modelo de negocio. Una persona emplazada en un lugar que recibe a otra persona emplazada en otro lugar. Ese desplazamiento afecta a toda la cadena de valor de todo el negocio turístico. Todos los aditamentos del negocio se ponen en valor desde la óptica del empresario y no desde la del cliente. Muy pocos establecimientos están escuchando de verdad a sus clientes. El eje vertebrador del turismo rural es la propia ruralidad pero su clientela no es rural, es mayoritariamente urbana. La condición de supervivencia del turismo rural está muy mediatizada por distinguir cuánto de un ingrediente u otro hay en la oferta general.

With only 16 days until opening day, the city of Xi’an, China is preparing for one of the largest international horticultural events of the year. Unified under the exhibition’s theme of “Eternal Peace and Harmony between Nature and Mankind,” the 418 hectares of well crafted landscape and landmark architecture are rooted in cultural symbolism and designed to illustrate the city’s promising future. Twelve million guests are expected to visit Xi’an and experience the exposition’s new perspective about the harmonious coexistence between human and nature, city and nature.

For the main themepPavilion, a dynamic geometric form that boasts irregular interfaces, the structure will showcase new achievements and products in horticulture and floriculture as well as new environmentally-friendly and energy-saving technologies and materials.

Moon Bridge_Kaohsiung_[Taiwan]

We’re happy to share JAJA Architcts’ lastest project – a proposal for a moon bridge that intends to unify the waterfront city of Kaohsiung for their Maritime and Culture Center.  For the competition, the architects focused on the city’s love of the river, creating a form that gracefully sweeps across the Love River adding programmatic activities and a programmed landscape to the riverfront.

Typical of JAJA’s work, the proposal offers a simplistic breakdown of community’s urban needs and satisfies these concerns with efficient solutions.  Divided by the river, the site take full advantage of the water as it serves as “the spine of the city where the urban spaces along the water stages a variety of markets, cafés and music events.”

The spine of public life has greatly influenced JAJA’s proposal as their moon bridge seeks to extend this spine across the river.    The proposal connects to the adjacent park developments and stretches itself from each end of the “U”-shaped site.   The Maritime Culture and Pop Music Center will actually extend from street level across the river forming the moon bridge.

El centro del proyecto es un puente peatonal y de bicicletas que conecta los barrios y el sector rural con los cuatro lados de la carretera, una pieza de arte y un hito escultural: un nuevo símbolo para Estocolmo.

La pieza de arte interactua con el magnífico paisaje y crea una conexión en tiempo y espacio entre naturaleza, ciudad e infraestructura. El puente se convierte en una pasarela y un lugar de encuentro donde lo espectacular y la vida diaria están relacionadas.

En los puntos de intersección de la infraestructura vial, se genera una multiplicidad de visuales simultáneamente. El nodo físico, como conector de flujos, se entiende como el que arma y organiza la narrativa de esas imágenes. Esos nodos consolidan la experiencia visual del “autoflâneur”.

"Gustafson Guthrie Nichol (GGN) has broken ground on the CityCenterDC development by Hines|Archstone in downtown Washington, DC. A new mixed-use development located on the 10-acre site of the former convention center, CityCenterDC is one of the largest downtown development projects currently underway in any U.S. city. Gustafson Guthrie Nichol participated in developing the master plan for the site with lead architect Foster + Partners, and acted as lead landscape architect, working with DC-based Lee and Associates. Additional members of the design team include DC-based Shalom Baranes Associates, serving as associate master plan architect, project Architect of Record, and lead designer of the residential rental buildings.Construction commenced on March 23, 2011, and is expected to reach completion by the fourth quarter of 2013. The project includes the development of Northwest Park, a lively addition to downtown DC, the creation of a Central Plaza, aswell as dramatic terraces with green roofs and gardens incorporated into all the buildings."

magerforbraending Waste-to-Energy Plant

Entrada ganadora en el concurso para una planta de manejo de desperdicios para Amagerforbrændingen (Copenhagen). El equipo de diseño incluyó a BIG, realities:united AKT, TOPOTEK1 & Man Made Land, Glessner Group. El edificio es de 95,000 metros cuadrados y el "Paisaje" es de 90,000 metros cuadrados.

En está propuesta se integra la infraestructura con un paisaje diseñado que se utilizará como un espacio de ocio y actividad física, el cual conecta las zonas de vivienda propuestas.

Re_imagining the Hoover Dam

The current public amenities of the world-famous Hoover Dam in the United States consist of a viewing platform, a bridge, and a gallery scattered around the entire site. This project aims to reconfigure these programs by merging them into a single vertical super structure.

One of the main purposes of the project is to allow the water from the upstream river to engage directly with the visitors through a series of containers. A hanging tower above the 700-foot drop into the Black Canyon would be used as gallery and a vertical aquarium.

Un modelo para parques escultóricos urbanos. Lo interesante de la obra en relación al curso es su comunicación con las infraestructuras existentes en el sitio (era un lugar industrial donde existen vías de tren y una carretera arterial).

Estructura Funcional + Infraestructura Vial y de Transporte

AguaP es el nombre del proyecto por la oficina Site A/S. Pretende atender un problema inmediato de inundaciones y de estacionamiento en Copenhague, Dinamarca. Además de estacionamientos y la superficie verde que ayuda a la disipación del agua para su evaporación, la estructura esta programada con paseos peatonales y ciclovías. También conecta con una estación de tren y una de autobuses lo que promueve el transporte público.

Underground Metropolis

The main concept behind this proposal is to make use of the immense coal mines as an underground city where miners will have access to a better quality of life through modern housing and recreational areas. This underground metropolis will coexist with regular cities and will integrate them through an exchange of goods and services.

"Agricultural Urbanism"

Proyecto de Chung Whan Park donde se integra el programa de vivienda y el de agricultura. El proyecto consiste en un sistema de fincas verticales las cuales a su vez funcionana como vivienda, la forma irregular del proyecto responde a la captación máxima del sol.
